FAQs of a Magician

Here are some frequently asked questions I am often asked as a Close Up Magician.

If you would like to know anything else please contact me and I shall be happy to help.

1. How long do you perform?

Performance times do depend on the type of event and number of people. A typical event can be around 2-3 hours. This might be split between a drinks reception and sit down meal. If you contact me with your event details I shall be able to suggest how long is needed.

2. Does everyone see some magic?

I always try to insure that everyone gets to see some magic. If it is a very large event with more than 100 people I may suggest that you need two or more magicians to cover your event effectively.

3. How do you work around groups?

Mix and mingle, as we call it, is when a Close Up Magician will engage small groups of people while they are standing up. This will generally be a drinks reception. I always use my tact and experience to judge these situations and approach people in a friendly manor. If it is a corporate event I am aware that some people may not want to be interrupted if they are networking.

4. How do you work Tables?

During a sit down meal I aim to approach tables during the clearing and serving of food. I do not go up to tables while guests are eating as I don’t think it is fair to let there food go cold. I use my experience of many performances to judge each situation and approach people in a friendly manor.

5. Whats the best time to perform Magic?

This is based on the event. As I have performed at many types of events my aim is to advise you on how best to maximise my services to you. Please contact me for a chat about your event.

6. Whats the best time to do magic at weddings?

In my experience the best times for magic at weddings is the drinks reception during photographs and the sit down meal around the tables.

7. How many Magicians should I book for my event?

As a guide generally one magician can cover 100 people at an event. This might be ten tables at a sit down meal. if you have more than this then it would be recommended to book more magicians in order to divide up the performance time and not rush through. This will mean your guest get a real magic experience!

8. What age range do you cater for?

I generally perform adult magic involving cards and sleight of hand. At family events, such as weddings, I am of course happy to cater for some of the younger audience and can provide balloon modelling.

9. What do magicians wear?

Generally I would wear a smart suit to events but I am able to cater your needs in most cases. If your event has a dress code like black tie or themed then please let me know to see what I can do. I can also dress down in street gear should you require.

10. Do you have a Magic White Rabbit?

Sadly even though I am a real Close Up Magician I have never owned a magic white rabbit or a top hat! But did have goldfish while I was growing up.
